Name: Captain Danny Ross
Age: 48

Daniel Ross was born and raised in Syracuse, New York. He is the middle child of three. His older sister, Brianna, is 50 and his younger brother, Joshua, is 42. As a child, Danny was quiet and observant. He was very close to his sister when they were children since they were so close in age, but once she got into her teens she pulled away from him. The household growing up was somewhat average. The three children went to school, they had dinner with their parents every night, they played outside until the street lights came on. The Ross family was never rich, but they had enough to live on. When Danny was 14, his parents got divorced. It had been coming for a year or so, but it was still a shock to him. Being the age he was, he sided with his father. His relationship with his mother was rough over the followed years, but when he was 17 things began to get better between them. It was also when he found out what the root of the troubles had been with his parents. His father had cheated. This was something he would carry with him always.

Danny escaped his hometown when he was 18 and attended the University Of Buffalo. He spent his first two years unsure what he wanted to take and switching majors quite a bit. By chance he sat in on a criminal justice class, and found exactly what he wanted.

He graduated college and went straight to the Police Academy. He moved to NYC and settled in. He took the years making his way up the ladder at an average pace. When he was 31, he met a woman by the name of Nancy. By 33, he was married to her. A year into their marriage, they had their first child. A boy that they named Jeremy. Danny was very happy after that, with the job he loved and a great family. When Jake was 4 years old, Nancy got pregnant again. Nine months later they had their second son, Micah.

Danny knew that he had to take care of his family and provide for them. He wanted to be a great father, and nothing like his own, who he still held so much resentment towards. He worked his job with a serious commitment, that paid off. He was eventually made Lieutenant. His promotion to Captain followed not long after. Almost a year after that, he was assigned his own task force. There was no way he was going to refuse it. The case was white collar, a large money laundering scheme. He buried himself in it, working with his team, trying to do his job. The job that started sending him and his team overseas for days at a time. Then sometimes for a week. Or two. His wife wasn't happy with him never being home. When he did come home, they either fought or didn't speak. It wasn't much of a surprise to him when she left him. He ended up getting his own place and moving out. It broke his heart to move away from his sons, as he swore he would never do. He had always expected he'd be one of the families that stuck together. That was, after all, the reason he worked as hard as he did. It was always for his family.

On the task force, he met a young detective named Megan Wheeler. She was smart and very promising and he took and instant liking to her. He felt the need to teach her to become a better cop than she already was, and became like a mentor to her. They also formed a friendship. He knew that she had problems of her own growing up, he came to learn all about her home life. How her father had disappeared when she was young. He saw how she looked up to him, went to him for advice or confirmation of her abilities. He began to think that she was what his daughter might be like, if he'd ever had one.

The case wrapped up, and in reward for it Danny was put in the Major Case Squad. He went the proper course to bring Megan with him. Not because of their friendship, but because he knew she was an amazing detective and MCS could use someone like her. He felt she deserved it.

Danny is a good man, but it's often overshadowed by his strictness and his need for everything to be run smoothly. He likes rules to be followed and sees to it that they are. This often leads him at odds with his detectives, the ones that have their own ways of doing things. He knows that they see him as a stiff, nonsupporting prick at times, but he doesn't care. He is devoted to his job, he respects everyone that he works with, and he has faith in the detectives that work his squad. He still works too much, he still devotes himself to the job relentlessly, but now that's because it's all he really has going for him.
